{Before and After} Project Colorful Oasis

Everyone loves a good before and after, right?!? Well it’s a very happy Friday then, because I have a complete overhaul to show you! When my client found this apartment, we started from scratch. She wasn’t bringing any furniture from her other home, so we had fun creating a new colorful oasis that she shares with her husband! She knew she wanted the living area to be fun, with loads of color and personality. For the master bedroom, she wanted a calm retreat to relax in at the end of the day. We wanted the home to have personal photos from their travels and an overall space that felt meaningful and personal to them. The before pictures show the apartment when we first met. The wheels were already turning for what this new home could be. And luckily, I had my friend and super talented photographer Ana with me for the final photos! We have worked together before and Ana Gil Taylor Photography knows how to make a space shine! So here we go… enjoy the before and afters of Project Colorful Oasis!!

With this apartment rental, there were elements we couldn’t change and had to work around, like the fire alarm, sprinkler system and venting. But we tried to distract the eye as best as possible, by instead drawing you in to look at the oversized artwork and other colorful elements in the space. Luckily, the apartment already had a great paint color! We worked with that, as it was a great base for the design.

Photo Reveal: Project Classic Trad

I am beyond thrilled to reveal the photos from Project Classic Trad!! This was such a great project to be a part of, with amazing clients and an overall style that is right up my alley… a blend of traditional with modern. Today, I’m showing the living room and first floor bathroom. I couldn’t be happier to be working with Sarah Heppell on this project. She brought the rooms to life through her pictures and showed a sun filled space on a very cloudy day. That takes talent!! {I love that we upholstered my client’s favorite wing chair in new fabrics. Tonic Living has the best fabric options to choose from and a local upholsterer created this magic. I call it business in the front and party in the back!}

Project Farmhouse Gem Reveal!!

I guess it’s reveal week on the blog! I am thrilled to show you the after photos from Project Farmhouse Gem. You may remember some of these furniture pieces and accessories, as they are from Project Vintage Gem. My client has recently married and moved from her city apartment into a farmhouse. I was asked to come back and design her sunroom in her new home and it was fun to reconnect and see what we could use from the first project. We worked again with the wonderful and amazing Sarah Heppell and had the best time looking back on when we all met. Sarah also photographed my client’s wedding and brought over the new album, so that was such a special day for so many reasons! Project House on the Lake Reveal!!

I just love reveal time!! It’s fun to see a project take shape and see it through a photographer’s eye. I had the pleasure of working with Ana Gil Taylor Photography for the photos in Project House on the Lake. This master bedroom has a gorgeous window that looks right out onto the water, so we wanted to make sure and include that view. Let’s get right to the photos, so you can see who was the impromptu star of the show!!

In this space, we wanted a coastal nod, but a subtle one. We took the colors from the landscape outside and brought it right into this space. I hope you enjoyed the tour! A very special thank you to Ana for capturing this master bedroom in such a beautiful way!! You are a true talent!

Project Rustic Modern Reveal Part 2!!

Happy Monday! I’m back with another reveal over at Project Rustic Modern. Today, it’s all about the dining room! This space also had a dramatic transformation, with the power of paint! The walls above the wainscoting had a warm gold tone. This cool navy blue gave a nice balance to the wood floors and furniture. The walls, lighting and accessories changed, but the furniture and area rug stayed the same. These photos are taken by Sarah Heppell Photography. Enjoy!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With all of the warm wood tones in the room, I was careful to select accessories that complimented and didn’t compete. The big items to offset the warmth are the cool navy walls and the oversized, soft white buffet lamps. They provided contrast and a brightness against the warm pieces seen in the space. I hope you liked the reveal of these rooms! The bright colors definitely get me ready for summer!!

Project Rustic Modern Reveal!!

Project Rustic Glam: Dining Room Reveal!!

I’m back this week with more Project Rustic Glam reveals and this time, it’s the dining room! We wanted this space to be an extension of the living space, which we completed first. We were working with my client’s gorgeous dining table, rug and hutch, as well as a meaningful art print. Those pieces brought in color, pattern and a unique vintage quality. We then added in some more color and a modern edge, to bring that collected- traditional- meets modern- design. Project Rustic Glam: Living Room Reveal!!!

I am so excited to return to blogging today with this room reveal! This is my first time working with Ana from Ana Gil Taylor Photography and I am in awe of her work. She captured this room so beautifully and was also such a fun and genuine person to work with! My client has been so amazing to work with too and I have truly enjoyed every step of this process with her!! My client loves color and her gorgeous rug was the jumping off point for color saturation in this space. After we had that set, my client showed me this coffee table, which she loved. I did, too! We took those pieces and ran from there. I would love to get right to the photos, because I just can’t wait any longer to show you!! Come on in…

A House on the Lake

That title has a nice ring to it! I have enjoyed working with local clients who have their house right on the water. I had an install there this week and even though it was cloudy outside, the view was still beautiful! I am calling this one #ProjectHouseontheLake Here are some quick snapshots I took during the install. There are still pictures to hang above the bed, but you know me… I am too impatient to wait!!

 

 

 

 

 

 

My clients asked for a mismatched lamp look for their bedside tables. I have never done that before, as I usually use wall sconces or a matching table lamp pair. But I loved the overall look! I just made sure the lamps were different enough in the design, so it looked intentional. I didn’t want to have two separate shaded lamps, for example. And the overall height had to be almost exact, so it didn’t look off balance. I can’t wait to show you it all together, so you get the full picture.

I also didn’t want to give the room too beachy of a vibe. The lake is right outside their window, so I just used various shades of blue, aged brass and a driftwood finish for the furniture. I think that did the trick! I also wanted to mix metals and wood finishes, so the space felt as if it was collected over time, even though we just started working together this fall! I love the galvanized tubs that are on the bottom shelves of the nightstands. I think you will be seeing a lot of galvanized everything this season! It just gives a great weathered, collected look to a space. The rope detail on the handle was also a subtle coastal nod!

And when I do get this space photographed, I am thinking about using baby’s breath for the flowers. And I actually plan to use a huge bunch by itself! Have you ever looked at this flower in the store and thought of using them on their own? They are typically used as an accent flower, but how pretty would they be in here?!?

 

 

And P.S., the greenery in this room is faux!! Both my clients and myself both own that we cannot keep plants alive, so I am always on the hunt for realistic faux plants. Happy Wednesday and thanks for taking a peek inside #ProjectHouseontheLake

Current Projects and Inspirations

Happy almost spring!! I wanted to check in and share some design updates and inspirations since the last time I wrote a post. There are several design projects that are nearing completion. Some we’ve been working on for about a year, so it will be super exciting to show those final reveals. In #ProjectClassicTrad we are almost there! So many great things happened and came together at our most recent install. Please keep in mind these are just quick phone pics and most of the construction materials are still around. There is still art to be hung and pillows to place, but we are super close. I just get so excited, that I love to show the during as much as the reveal!

My client moved from this apartment in the city to a farmhouse in the country! And we’ll be working together again for #ProjectFarmhouseGem to transform her sunroom. Here is the fabric scheme I’m currently thinking about…

The fabric selection is definitely an evolving process, so we’ll see which options make the cut. I am constantly on the hunt for ways to be inspired for projects. These images sum up where I’m at right now…
