Project Bedroom Refresh… The Reveal Part 1

December 8, 2016 by Amber Filed Under: #projectbedroomrefresh, amber b design, central new york design, design, interior design, local clients, sarah heppell photography 6 Comments

It is like Christmas came early around here… it’s reveal day!! I love being able to see a project from beginning to end. And once my favorite photographer, Sarah, puts her magical stamp on the project, it’s ready to reveal! I have loved working with Sarah on several design projects. She shows every room in its best possible way. So let’s get right to it! First up, will be the master bedroom. My clients wanted to update their bedroom, as well as their two guest rooms. They hadn’t been decorated in some time and they were looking for a major change. They like a traditional style and were ready to infuse some modern design to the mix, as well. Here is where the master bedroom started…

We kept most of the furniture for this room and gave it a design update. And here is where we are now…

I love everything about it. I’m looking for a similar refresh putting the TV on the dresser after removing the mirror. I love the picture wall around the TV. Personally, I would want the chair between the windows so I could view the TV. It’s better for posture to sit up in a chair. In my situation now I bought small “sliders” that I put under the legs of my chair so I can easily push it near the TV on carpet. That would work well in that room with not far to push.

Hi Donna! Thanks so much for your comment. Placing the chair in between the windows would be perfect for TV viewing. Great idea! For the photo shoot, the chair fit best in the corner, to help conceal cords for the cable and lamp. But since the chair is on casters, I bet they move it around often. That’s great you have the sliders for your chair. It makes moving it around more practical. Have a great weekend!

It looks great. You have updated it to feel current and certainly refreshed. Love the drapes added. I have one suggestionfor you to consider as I have done it a couple times and love the updated look. On my night stands, I have removed the doors, leaving some depth and more updated furniture look. I paint the interior and than I stack books in the opening. I almost think you could do that on the long dresser as well with the center doors unless their are hidden drawers behind it. Just consider it, it updates older furniture. Keep the doors, you can always put them back on.

Great idea, Patricia! Thanks for your comment. Sounds like it looks very pretty with your interior night stand painted! For this room, the drawers conceal clothes and everyday items. One trick we used was to paint the room a blue gray, helping to offset the wood furniture and bring a more modern look to the room. Like your idea, too! Have a great weekend!

Now that the ladder has been relocated to the family room, this corner is definitely in need of some height. I almost went with the idea of a tree and while I love it in other homes, I just didn’t see it here. So I went on Pinterest in search of inspiration and @studiomcgee to the rescue! I love the idea of a pedestal with a vase and maybe some branches, instead of a tree. I can switch up the accessories on the pedestal and I think it’s the winner! This year, we had it to the left of the television and I really feel like that space is now so empty. I tried the living room ladder in its place and I love it! But the living room needs it there too. What to do?! Maybe a tall plant in one of the spaces?! Two ladders within feet of each other?! 😂 #amberbdesignathome #coastalliving #howyouhome #SMmakelifebeautiful #loveyourhabitat #bhghome
