Going Rugless

June 18, 2012 by Amber Filed Under: design, rugs Leave a Comment

We have really been embracing the rugless look in our dining room. You get to see more of the wood floor, makes for easy clean up and gives the illusion of a bigger room. Our dining room is about 12×11, so it’s great to have the appearance of more space. Since we took out the rug this summer, my husband has commented how much he likes the look! I will have to ease him into the idea of a rug in the future, because I always like to change things up. For now, this look is a keeper. So I thought it would be fun to see some beautiful dining rooms with the same idea!

Eventually, I would like this rug look…

Are you/are you not rugless??
And thank you all so much for your comments about my dining room and what to do about the stenciled wall! Since I take a while to get projects done around here, I will live with it as is for a little while. But don’t worry, if the wall gets painted over, I have plans to bring it back (just with another background color!)
Stay tuned…

Now that the ladder has been relocated to the family room, this corner is definitely in need of some height. I almost went with the idea of a tree and while I love it in other homes, I just didn’t see it here. So I went on Pinterest in search of inspiration and @studiomcgee to the rescue! I love the idea of a pedestal with a vase and maybe some branches, instead of a tree. I can switch up the accessories on the pedestal and I think it’s the winner! Inspiration in the next slide. #amberbdesignathome #coastalliving

It breathes new life into a space, even with subtle touches. I switched the living room and family room table lamps and I like the larger scale lamp in here! This year, we had it to the left of the television and I really feel like that space is now so empty. I tried the living room ladder in its place and I love it! But the living room needs it there too. What to do?! Maybe a tall plant in one of the spaces?! Two ladders within feet of each other?! 😂 #amberbdesignathome #coastalliving #howyouhome #SMmakelifebeautiful #loveyourhabitat #bhghome
