Happy Weekend and welcome to Fashion Friday… where I discuss my other design love! Today’s post is devoted to classic prints that are making their comeback. In magazines and in other blogs like Holly’s, I have noticed some talk about traditional prints like plaids, houndstooth, checks and stripes coming back in fashion!  They are the timeless prints that look great both in fashion and interior designs. Although I think they are classics, it’s still great to see them back in the design forefront! So this fashion post will be devoted to all things preppy!

Happy Weekend and welcome to Fashion Friday… where I discuss my other design love! Yesterday’s post showed a gorgeous living and dining space that was fun, chic and glamorous. I wanted to bring that to you today, in the form of an outfit! I was inspired by the room’s beautiful combination of glamour with fun, chic with modern… I wanted to (attempt) to create that same feeling with clothing!

With this fashion board, I wanted to pair whimsical pieces with classic and modern with elegant- to create a fun and playful outfit. The girl that wears this would fit in well with yesterday’s room, because this girl is glamorous and chic, like the downtown space shown on Thursday!

So with fall already upon us, I thought it would be fun to put together a fall inspired look that I would definitely wear.

In yesterday’s Why This Works series post, I decided to focus on classic design. I would also like to do that for today’s post! I have always loved and admired two fashion icons: Audrey Hepburn and Jackie Kennedy Onassis. They have always inspired me with their fashion and the overall way they carried themselves. They were iconic trendsetters and the epitome of class and elegance.

With interior as well as fashion design, I think it’s fun to explore color in new ways and see how different color combos can relate to each other. For this edition, the focus is shades of green! After yesterday’s post, I thought about this color in different hues and how it can translate to a room as well as an outfit!

To give you a glimpse into what’s going on inside my head, I wanted to show you a gorgeous dining room that shows this color as the main attraction! I often think about how clothing can relate to decor and this space seems to get along with the outfit! This image is from pinterest and the designer used a different shade of green in an unexpected way!

To me, this dining room is different and fun- hopefully, like the above outfit!

Happy weekend and welcome to the new series Fashion Friday. As a young girl, fashion was my first design love. It wasn’t until I got married and moved into our first place that I really fell for Interior Design. Growing up, I always had piles of fashion magazines lying around and a dream of becoming a supermodel. (What was I thinking!) I would watch runway shows on tv to catch a glimpse of Christy, Claudia and Naomi. And I still love perusing through some of the fashion magazines that I had monthly subscriptions to- Harper’s Bazaar and Allure! So I thought it would be fun to sprinkle some fashion into this blog and have a Fashion Friday! To me, fashion and interior designs go hand in hand- For clothing, I usually am drawn to the same colors that are throughout our home. Fashion, like interiors, has trends, textural interest and can be playful and fun. With fashion as well as interiors, you can mix high end with less expensive, new with old and blend diferent styles to create your own look. My post yesterday showed a living room that had fun, chic colors. I thought I would create a fashion board for you, using the same colors found in yesterday’s room. Enjoy!

I always love looking at dresses, but I am a casual dresser at heart. I love being comfortable! These Missoni ballet flats were the jumping off point for this outfit. (Have you been to Target this week and seen the new Missoni line? These shoes are less than $30!) Besides being comfortable, I also love a great/stylish deal! I tried to pick up a pair of these on Tuesday, but they were already sold out! Looks like I will be stalking Target for the next couple of weeks.
