Would You Ever Give E-Design A Try??

March 26, 2012 by Amber Filed Under: e-design Leave a Comment

I have been thinking about this lately and was curious on your thoughts… have you ever tried/thought about using e-design? I started my own e-design business last year and have loved it so far! Every design and room is a unique challenge- like solving a puzzle. It consumes me (in a good way) until the project is complete. For me, there’s nothing like it!

One of my first design boards for a client.
I have yet to delve into the design world locally and plan to in the future. For now, this is a perfect fit!
But this question isn’t just for potential clients. If you are already an interior designer, decorator, e-decorator… would you also give e-design a try as a client? I would! I have often wondered what some of my favorite e-design bloggers would do with a room in my home. If I told them my wishes, ideas and style- would they give me a totally different interpretation of what I was thinking? Maybe! Would they think of a layout I never thought of, colors I would have been afraid to try in my own home? Would they push me a little and get me to think outside my comfort zone? Probably!

No matter what your design background is, I think it’s always useful to have outside opinions on your own space. It’s that second set of eyes that can tell you what you didn’t think about! Some may say that a negative to e-design is that the decorator is not able to see the space in person. I understand that criticism. On the other hand, it’s an extremely affordable way to work with an interior decorator and get their view/outlook of your space. With the amazing internet, seeing multiple photos of the space, constant dialouge between client/decorator- you truly feel as if you are there in the space. I also love seeing the client take the design and run with it! They tweak it a bit and put their own spin on the decorator’s ideas. It’s a great partnership.

I would love to hear your thoughts! Have you tried it? Would you???
If you are an e-decorator, leave a comment with a link to you and your work!

Now that the ladder has been relocated to the family room, this corner is definitely in need of some height. I almost went with the idea of a tree and while I love it in other homes, I just didn’t see it here. So I went on Pinterest in search of inspiration and @studiomcgee to the rescue! I love the idea of a pedestal with a vase and maybe some branches, instead of a tree. I can switch up the accessories on the pedestal and I think it’s the winner! Inspiration in the next slide. #amberbdesignathome #coastalliving

This year, we had it to the left of the television and I really feel like that space is now so empty. I tried the living room ladder in its place and I love it! But the living room needs it there too. What to do?! Maybe a tall plant in one of the spaces?! Two ladders within feet of each other?! 😂 #amberbdesignathome #coastalliving #howyouhome #SMmakelifebeautiful #loveyourhabitat #bhghome
